The Russellettes were an ongoing, occasional and irregular project; they appeared at private views, performances, launches and other events. They were recognisable by their branded RUSSELL HERRON T-shirts. Their presence lay somewhere between performance, live art, Happening, installation, Warholian Superstardom, Duchampian Readymade and social networking.

The influences for The Russellettes were historically wideranging. Some key projects were Adrian Dannatt's 'The Three' (www.lacan.com/frameVII5.htm) and the video for the Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse cover of The Zutons' Valerie, in which Winehouse's absence is covered by members from the audience, christened on stage by Ronson as 'The Winettes.'
